Due to the complex nature of this course, Getabout Training Services has set a RTO determined prerequisite for every training nominee. Getabout require that each prospective course participant hold competency in a nationally recognised standard 4WD course with recent practical experience before undertaking this course. Outcomes for Perform complex four wheel drive operations course include:

  • identifying and assessing types of water crossings and terrain being accessed for safe operating conditions
  • preparing 4x4 vehicle for water crossing
  • negotiating a water crossing
  • performing check of vehicle operations on completion of water crossing
  • operating a vehicle in rugged terrain
  • recovering a vehicle from loss of traction while ascending
  • performing post-trip tasks

Outcomes for Recover four wheel drive vehicles course include:

  • surveying site to identify hazards, assess risks and select suitable strategy
  • selecting personal protective equipment appropriate to type of recovery operation
  • determining potential environmental impact of recovery
  • applying safe recovery method
  • establishing and maintain communications with appropriate personnel during recovery operations.
  • determining recovery method based on the terrain conditions and circumstances
  • considering operating variables, define danger zone and apply strategies to reduce risk and environmental impact during recovery.
  • determining the recovery equipment required and its availability
  • setting up an exclusion zone.
  • repairing environmental damage where possible
  • identifying hazards and position recovery equipment safely
  • using safe operating procedures while using recovery equipment
  • using rated recovery equipment within limitations and capabilities
  • carrying out maintenance on recovery equipment

A front mounted winch is required on your 4WD vehicle to participate in this course.
